Three Kurdish political prisoners were secretly executed at Urmia Central Prison in north-west Iran, the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights reported. Idris Ali (32) and Azad Shojaei, both from the city of Sardasht, and Rasoul Ahmad Rasoul from Sulaymaniyah were denied a final meeting with their families.
The men had been convicted on charges of espionage for Israel following what Hengaw described as unfair trials built on coerced confessions. They were arrested by the Iranian Intelligence Ministry in July 2023 and held for months before being moved to Urmia.
Hengaw condemned the executions as retaliatory measures that disregard fundamental human rights, noting the men were denied legal representation and subjected to severe physical and psychological torture. (Hengaw Organization)
