An explosive-laden drone struck a base belonging to the Iranian Kurdish opposition group Komala of Revolutionary Toilers of Iranian Kurdistan in the Kurdistan Region's Erbil province late on Saturday, causing material damage but no casualties.
The attack hit a base in the Alana Valley, in the Balisan area northeast of Erbil. Komala confirmed that its fighters in the area were safe. The strike comes amid a series of drone and missile attacks by Iran and pro-Iranian forces targeting Iranian Kurdish opposition positions in the Kurdistan Region in recent months.
Since the start of the regional war, Iran and affiliated groups have carried out over 1,000 drone and missile attacks across the Kurdistan Region.
