Thousands of people joined pro-Kurdish demonstrations in several German cities, including Dortmund, Frankfurt and Bremen, amid renewed clashes in northeastern Syria between the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces and Syrian government troops.
An estimated 1.3 million Kurds live in Germany, the largest Kurdish diaspora outside the Middle East.
The rallies took place during a dispute over integrating previously autonomous Kurdish regions into the Syrian state following the fall of Bashar al-Assad.
