Renowned Kurdish painter Lukman Ahmed is introducing the Kurdish cause to the world through an exhibition he has opened in Washington.
The exhibition features numerous paintings by the artist depicting Kurdish culture and the changes it has undergone.
For this exhibition, Lukman Ahmed also created a portrait of the Greek musician Spyros Koliavasilis.
Speaking to Kurdistan24, the Kurdish painter explained the purpose of the exhibition:
"We opened this special exhibition so that people could come and see the paintings."
Noting that the presence of people from diverse backgrounds—including Arabs, Americans, and Kurds—presented a great opportunity to bring cultures closer together, Lukman Ahmed described his strategy as follows:
"My paintings reflect Kurdish culture and values. I aim to introduce the Kurdish cause to the world. I want to convey a message to the exhibition's visitors through my work."
In addition to providing a venue for talented Kurdish artists to showcase their work, the event has become a platform for dialogue and cultural exchange among the various ethnic groups living in Washington.
