Kurdish student societies are taking root on UK university campuses, offering students of all backgrounds the chance to explore Kurdish food, culture, music and traditions while building community ties.
The University of Birmingham Kurdish Society, known as KurdSoc, is a student-run group that welcomes members of every ethnicity and background, running events on a bi-weekly basis during term time. Similar societies operate at universities across the country, often hosting cultural evenings, talks and fundraising activities.
These campus groups help young Kurds in the UK stay connected to their heritage while introducing Kurdish culture to a wider student audience. (University of Birmingham Guild of Students)
