Kurdish Victim Groups Unite to Seek International Recognition of Genocide

10 March 2025 Kurdistan Region VOA Kurdish 1 min read

Relatives of the victims of the Anfal campaign, the Kakai community, survivors of the Halabja chemical attack and Yezidis have joined forces in an effort to secure international recognition of their cases as genocide.

The collaboration, led by Yezidi activist and human rights advocate Mirza Dinnayi, who received the 2019 Aurora Humanitarian Award, seeks to overcome the deep-rooted religious and ethnic divisions that have historically kept these Kurdish communities apart.

By presenting a united voice in their pursuit of justice, the groups aim to press international institutions to recognise the crimes committed against them. (VOA Kurdish)
