Hengaw: Iran Executed at Least 1,858 People in 2025

30 December 2025 Iran Hengaw Organization for Human Rights 1 min read

Iranian authorities executed at least 1,858 people during 2025, more than double the 909 executions recorded in 2024, an increase of about 100 percent, according to the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights.

The report documented at least 74 civilians shot dead during protests, at least 59 deaths in detention, and more than 1,552 people arrested or forcibly disappeared during the year. At least 55 women were among those executed.

Kurdish and Baluch minorities were disproportionately affected, and many of those put to death were convicted in proceedings that relied on torture and forced confessions. Hengaw warned that the scale of executions signalled a sharp escalation of repression across the country. (Hengaw Organization for Human Rights)
