Alina Burns, 19, who had told a man on a dating app that she wanted to "kill all Jews and Muslims", has been jailed for more than 15 years for attempting to behead a Kurdish barber in Bristol.
Burns attacked Mohammed Mahmoodi, 27, with an axe as he stood outside his shop in Bedminster, south Bristol, in August 2025. Bristol Crown Court heard that she was motivated by neo-Nazi extremism and had been in contact with far-right groups.
The court was told that Burns had searched online for information about jihad, the 2024 Southport stabbings, "Jewish supremacy" and Nazi Germany.
The case has been widely reported as an act of far-right extremism targeting a member of the UK's Kurdish community.
